World Esports Championship Finals Kick off with Glamorous Ceremony

The 2023 World Esports Championship Finals kicked off officially on Friday, August 25, 2023, with a spectacular Opening Ceremony, the International Esports Federation (IESF) revealed. The glamorous grand Opening Ceremony took place at the Palace of Culture located in Iași, Romania. This year, a record number of 111 countries were able to qualify and will enter the competition across six different games.

As one of the most-anticipated events within the esports vertical, the 2023 WE Championship meets some of the best players across the globe in PUBG Mobile Tekken 7, Dota 2, CS:GO, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and eFootball. The teams participating in the prestigious event will compete for the grand prize of $500,000, as well as the recognizable and coveted WE Championship trophy. The IESF revealed that the prestigious championship is scheduled to run through September 4, 2023.

A pre-ceremony event was organized by the IESF ahead of the grand Opening Ceremony. This event recognized Romania’s rich culture, featuring a unique performance of th 7BALL CX e CS:GO theme by a philharmonic orchestra. However, the WE Championship is set to deliver even more unique experiences with a ComicCon festival, performances from globally-recognized artists like Armin van Buuren, as well as other thrilling and engaging activities.

The famous esports presenter, James Banks, along with Jon Kefaloukos, the former professional player, hosted the recent Opening Ceremony. The event also delivered unique performances by KISS FM radio Romania, as well as a drone show and spectacular fireworks. The recent event marks the 15th-anniversary edition of the WE Championship and had an estimated 5,000 esports fans attending.

The Unique Event Helps Meet Esports Pro Players and Fans

Mihai Cirica, Iași’s Mayor, attended the recent grand Opening Ceremony and shared his excitement about the unique event. He thanked everyone involved in the organization of this championship and highlighted its importance. “Together, we embrace the values of competition and unity that IESF represents. Let’s make history for Iasi in this global Esports arena,” said Cirica in conclusion.

Vlad Marinescu, IESF’s president, shared the excitement of Iași’s Mayor. He spoke about the opening event of the 15th WE Championship which brings players from all around the world with a passion for competitive gaming. Finally, Marinescu said that the most important thing for esports isn’t victories or defeats but the unique experiences of playing with professional players from different countries.
