Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City has been fined by state gaming regulators for failing to adhere to regulations and procedures, according to a Friday report from the Press of Atlantic City.
The $5,000 fine was reportedly levied against the former Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement for failing to petition or notify regulators regarding the hiring of a marketing executive.
Casino Control Act requirement:
According to the daily newspaper, the fine was issued to the Atlantic City venue by the governmental agency upon appointing Mann Lien as the Asian marketing vice president. The proper notification is a requirement of the Casino Control Act.
In a letter dated October 29, Director of the Division of Gaming Enforcement, David Rebuck (pictured), reportedly wrote to Hard Rock’s legal counsel communicating that…
“Of import in this instance, the position of vice president of Asian marketing and Mr. Lien’s appointment to that position arose from and was related to the initial casino licensure.”
Licensing date conflicts:
Hard Rock’s casino license was granted in May by the Casino Control Commission while gaming operations at the Boardwalk property commenced on June 27.
The letter from Rebuck reportedly indicated that Mann Lien’s employment at Hard Rock Atlantic City began on July 9. Lien already possessed a casino key employee license. According to the letter, the Division of Gaming Enforcement was, however, not notified of the occasion of Lien’s employment until the 22nd of October. It wasn’t until an inquiry was made at the casino hotel that the agency found out about the hiring.
Hard Rock reportedly filed a petition for a qualification wavier for Mann Lien on October 30.
“Failures related to non-compliance”:
Rebuck’s letter reportedly concludes that Hard Rock “has agreed to pay in recognition of the seriousness of its failures related to non-compliance as to the mandates” per the Casino Control Act.
After a $500 million renovation of the former Taj Mahal, the H 7BALL ard Rock Hotel & Casino celebrated its official grand opening on Thursday, June 28, 2018, just one hour before the scheduled 1pm opening of Ocean Resort Casino.
